Tam always had a passion for writing. She began writing poetry in junior high school, and later wrote for her high school newspaper, The Hi-Gusher. Tam relocated to Jackson, Mississippi from Emeryville, California, and wrote a letter to the editor at The Clarion Ledger.  She later joined The Jackson Free Press and Boom Magazine, first as an editorial intern, copy editor and finally as a freelance writer after going to work full-time, in another role. Tam wrote professionally again in early-2020, when she wrote briefly as an event writer/photographer for The Rambler Newspaper, until the start of the pandemic. Tam used skills she learned as an editorial intern, copy editor and freelance writer to self-publish three (3) children's books on Amazon Direct Publishing. Tam is on a mission to self-publish books for various audiences, and assist writers who want to cross barriers and break into journalism without traditional educational training.
